- The systems will benefit more than 1,100 students, with an estimated annual rainwater harvesting potential of over 700,000 liters—equivalent to 70 water trucks.
- This program is part of Arca Continental’s water security strategy, aligned with its sustainable business model.
Culiacán, Sinaloa, November 7, 2025 — Arca Continental, one of the largest Coca-Cola bottlers in the world with nearly 100 years of history, is committed to refreshing the world and making a positive difference. With this purpose in mind, and in collaboration with Fundación Coca-Cola México and the government of Sinaloa, the company inaugurated four rainwater harvesting systems in schools in the municipality of Culiacán as part of the “Schools with Water” program.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Justo Sierra Elementary School, one of the beneficiary institutions, where authorities, the school community, and partners gathered to celebrate this initiative that promotes access to clean water.
These systems will benefit more than 1,100 students and are expected to collect over 700,000 liters of rainwater annually—equivalent to 70 ten-thousand-liter water trucks—depending on rainfall and usage conditions. This amount is sufficient to meet the schools’ water needs during the rainy season and serve as an additional storage option during dry periods.
The program is complemented by educational workshops for students, teachers, and families, aiming to foster a culture of responsible water use that extends beyond the classroom and into homes.
“Today we celebrate and appreciate a concrete action that demonstrates how collaboration between the public sector, private initiative, and civil society can lead to great solutions. Arca Continental’s support and investment not only provide schools with rainwater infrastructure but also represent a strong commitment to our community’s water security,” said Luis Yuriar, Deputy Secretary of Sustainable Development.
Alberto de la Garza Alcorta, Director of the Pacific Region at Arca Continental México, added: “At Arca Continental, we are committed to making a positive difference in the communities where we operate. The installation of these rainwater harvesting systems is a clear example of how we create shared value by joining efforts with governments and partners to improve the school environment and provide new generations with access to clean water and better living conditions.”
This initiative is part of Arca Continental’s water security strategy, aligned with its sustainable business model, which seeks to ensure water availability and access for people, communities, and operations.
To date, Arca Continental has inaugurated more than 180 “Schools with Water” in its operating territories, benefiting over 90,000 people. These schools are part of the more than 900 that make up this initiative by Fundación Coca-Cola México and the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry nationwide.
