Saltillo, Coahuila, June 13, 2025 – With the goal of providing access to water, Arca Continental, one of the largest Coca-Cola bottlers in the world, and the Coca-Cola Mexico Foundation, in collaboration with the governments of Coahuila and Saltillo, launched the “Water for the Community” program. Through a water purification truck, free drinking water is delivered to families in Saltillo.

The purification truck (a state-of-the-art mobile purification plant) can process up to 80,000 liters of water per day, using a system that includes seven purification processes (disinfection, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet light, ozonation, and silver ionization). The unit is designed to deliver water in containers ranging from 1 to 20 liters or in bulk, depending on the needs of each community.

“We thank Arca Continental and the State Government because thousands of families will be able to access completely free drinking water, and this will help improve their quality of life and ease their financial burden,” said Javier Díaz González – Mayor of Saltillo.

During its launch in Saltillo, the program made a special donation of drinking water as a preventive measure against extreme heat. It was confirmed that the program will run from today until July 10, reaching 21 different communities in Saltillo, including: Las Margaritas, Puerto de Flores, Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, Omega, Río Bravo, Balcones, Nuevo Atardecer, Ignacio Allende, Oscar Flores Tapia, Hacienda las Isabeles, and Lomas del Refugio, among others.

Jesús Lucatero Díaz – Director of Public Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability at Arca Continental México, commented: “At Arca Continental, we are committed to operating a sustainable business model that drives profitable growth while creating value for the communities where we operate. Through the ‘Water for the Community’ program, we reinforce our commitment to water security by promoting solutions that contribute to social well-being and responsible resource management.”

The visit of the purification truck complements the programs “Schools with Water” and “Save a Drop,” which are part of Arca Continental’s water security strategy. This strategy aligns with its sustainable business model and aims to promote solutions that generate social, environmental, and economic value in the regions where it operates.

Recently, through “Schools with Water,” 16 rainwater harvesting systems have been inaugurated to benefit multiple school communities. Similarly, “Save a Drop” has led to the donation of 18,000 water-saving showerheads certified by CONAGUA with the “ecological grade” label, supporting water security in Coahuila.

Arca Continental has a long-term water security strategy based on three pillars: improving water use efficiency by treating all water used in its processes, returning the water used in beverages to nature, and providing access to water for people in vulnerable communities.
