Board of Directors

The solid ethical basis of Arca Continental’s Board of Directors is founded on guidelines for Corporate Governance, Risk Control and Social Responsibility. The current members of the Board of Directors are:

Manuel L. Barragán Morales

Mr. Barragán Morales has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2005 and a member of the Board since 2001. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Index, has been a member of the Boards of Directors of Grupo Procor, Banco Regional del Norte and Papas y Fritos Monterrey, and was an executive at a financial institution for 15 years.

Luis Arizpe Jiménez

Vice-president of the Board of Directors since 2008. Mr. Arizpe Jiménez is also Chairman of the Boards of Saltillo Kapital and Hotel Camino Real Saltillo, a member of the Board of Grupo Industrial Saltillo, Chairman of the Mexican Red Cross in Saltillo, Vice-president of the Board of Trustees of the Saltillo Campus of ITESM, and a member of Consejo Cívico de las Instituciones de Coahuila A.C. He is also President of the Offering Committee of the Saltillo Diocese and of COPARMEX, Southeast Coahuila, and a member of the Advisory Board of Grupo Financiero Banorte, Northern Region.

Alejandro José Arizpe Narro

Member of the Board of Directors of Embotelladoras Arca, from 2008 to 2010. He has a bachelor degree from ITESM as Biochemical Engineer. CEO of Food Products YUL up to 2008 and currently of the companies Desarrollos Zendo and “Elemento cero ediciones”. He is a member of COCEEPA (State Citizen's Council for Ecological Equilibrium and Environmental Protection of Coahuila), a counselor of CONALEP and of PRONATURA.

Juan Manuel Barragán Treviño

Member of the Board of Directors since 2009. Mr. Barragán Treviño has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration from ITESM. He was a member of the Boards of Transportes Especializados Regiomontanos, Papas y Fritos Monterrey, Grupo Procor and Grupo Index.

Luis Lauro González Barragán

Member of the Board of Directors since 2001. Mr. González Barragán is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Logístico Intermodal Portuario, a member of the Boards of Directors of Terra Regia, Berel and CABAL, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Universidad de Monterrey. He was a Delegate Director of Procor.

Felipe Cortés Font

Member of the Board of Directors since 2013. Mr. Cortés Font was a Founding Partner of Auric and worked for over 28 years in Grupo Industrial Alfa as part of the team for strategic and financial restructuring, heading Planning and Controllership. He also led the Petrochemical Sector and later became CEO of Hylsamex. He is currently a member of the Boards of Grupo Financiero Afirme and Ternium Mexico. He was a Director of the American Iron and Steel Institute and President of Canacero, Centro de Productividad de Nuevo León and the Latin American Institute of Iron and Steel. Mr. Cortés Font holds a Bachelor’s Degree from MIT.

Alejandro M. Elizondo Barragán

Member of the Board of Directors since 2004. Mr. Elizondo Barragán is Senior Vice-president of Development at Alfa and has occupied diverse positions in Alfa’s corporate area and steel and petrochemical divisions for more than 41 years. He is a member of the Boards of Banregio Grupo Financiero Indelpro, Polioles and Alestra.

Juan Carlos Correa Ballesteros

Member of the Board of Directors since 2016. Mr. Correa Ballesteros has been a member of the Executive Committee and of the Human Capital Committee of the Board of Directors of Arca Continental South America since 2010. He worked for 14 years for Ecuador Bottling Company, the Coca-Cola bottler for Ecuador, occupying a number of different positions, including, for the last three years, Director of Operations and Corporate Vice-president of the company. He is currently CEO of Corma Holding Family Office. Mr. Correa Ballesteros holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Miami.

Ulrich Guillermo Fiehn Rice

Member of the Board of Directors since 2011. Mr. Fiehn Rice is Chairman of the Boards of Alto Espacio Residencial and Grupo Industrial Mazatlán. He previously occupied diverse positions in the Corporate Finance area at Cemex and was a financial risk analyst at Vector Casa de Bolsa.

Mr. Sanchez Palazuelos was President of Negromex, Grupo Novum and Troy Grupo Industrial and also a member of the Boards of BBVA Bancomer, Grupo Marti, Probursa, City Express Hotels and several other companies. He is currently President of ASP y Asociados, S.C., as well as a member of the Boards of Procorp and Inmobiliaria CADU and a member of the Advisory Boards of Purdue University and of Instituto de Empresas de Madrid.

Miguel Ángel Rábago Vite

Vice-chairman of the Board of Directors since 2011. Mr. Rábago Vite was previously CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of Grupo Continental, occupying diverse positions in that company for more than 35 years. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Accounting and Auditing from Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas.

José Roberto Gavilano Ramírez

Member of the Board of Directors since 2016. Mr. Gavilano Ramírez is also a member of the Board of Lindcorp and CEO of Griffin S.A.C. He was previously Corporate Director for Business Development of Breca, one of Peru’s most important business groups. He also worked for J.P. Morgan in New York, in the department of Mergers and Acquisitions for Latin America, where he was Executive Director, and has been a member of the Board of Directors of Corporación Lindley S.A. Mr. Gavilano Ramírez obtained a Bachelor’s Degree Cum Laude in Economics from Harvard University.

Jorge Humberto Santos Reyna

Vice-chairman of the Board of Directors since 2007 and a member since 2001. Mr. Santos Reyna is Chief Executive Officer of Grupo San Barr and a member of the Board of Banregio Grupo Financiero. He is Vice-president of Asociación de Engordadores de Ganado Bovino del Noreste and of Confederación USEM, and also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mexican Red Cross in Monterrey. He was a member of the Boards of Procor, CAINTRA Nuevo León and Papas y Fritos Monterrey, and also Chairman of the Board of USEM Monterrey.

Armando Solbes Simón

Member of the Board of Directors since 2011. Mr. Solbes Simon was a member of the Board of Directors of Grupo Continental. He is currently Director of the Tampico Office of Banco Base and an associate and member of the Boards of Trustees of the Bene Hospital of the Centro Español in Tampico and of Universidad I.E.S.T. Anáhuac and a member of the Regional Advisory Board of Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Tampico (ESTAC). He was Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Central de Divisas Casa de Cambio for 23 years, and served in several positions in the corporate finance area of Grupo Cydsa, S.A.B. for eight years and in the External Auditing Department of Gossler, Navarro, Ceniceros y Cía. for three years.

Jesús Viejo González

Member of the Board of Directors since 2007. Dr. Viejo Gonzalez is Executive President of Trefilia Capital Investments and of Grupo CONVEX. He is also Technical Secretary of the Nuevo León Strategic Planning Council, Executive Director of Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM), President of the Board of Trustees of Museo de la Fauna y Ciencias Naturales del Estado de Nuevo León A.B.P. and a member of the Advisory Council of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University, and the Private Sector Center for Economic Studies. He also participates in different institutions, such as CAINTRA, Pronatura Noreste and the Monterrey Harvard Club. He was Vice-president of Economic Research for Emerging Markets at Goldman Sachs in New York and Chief Economist of Grupo Alfa. Dr. Viejo Gonzalez has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from ITESM, a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University and a PhD in Economics from Boston University.

Jaime Ignacio Echegaray Villegas

Member of the Board of Directors since 2017. He was IT director at Manpower México and Director of Information of The Coca-Cola Company for Latin America, a company from which he retired after 25 years of professional career. Member of Educational & Instructional Technology Association. At present, Mr. Echegaray is a consultant in the management of technology, innovation and logistics in the public and private sector.
